Old school forced air system
Furnace had huge standing pilot flame and a dangerous loss of integrity of the heat exchanger which could have lead to Carbon Monoxide poisoning.Original motor is a testament of craftsmanship and durability. Although noisy, this motor still worked after 57 years!This heat system was cutting edge for its time. It was designed with 4.5" rigid sheetmetal ducts that ran down the walls and terminated at vents by the floor. Each vent has a manual damper located in the living space allowing easy air flow control. The ductwork however was riddled with leaks and was installed without the use of sealants allowing air to escape into the attic.
